Alcohol will HELP you LOSE WEIGHT!!
No, girls, alcohol is not just for helping you hook up with that guy…

- Protect your heart - drink Pinot Noir
(bendsimmons blog) - Beat that belly fat! - drink a bottle of light beer

- Reduce risk of diabetes - drink a Bloody Mary

- Boost your brainpower! [how do you like them apples?] - Wine

- Say goodbye to gallstones - Eppa Sangria

So grab a glass of either one of the above and visit LIVESTRONG.com to read more on exactly how this works. I feel the beer calling me :D

Jer’s Lab: Banana Liqueur
This is my proudest product from the lab! But before i go into the recipe, you should know the basics of making a liqueur…
The process is quite simple, but requires a lot of patience. All you require is a
- high-proof alcohol (i.e the higher the percentage of alcohol, the better), the best i could find is 43% King Robert Vodka.

I recommend the use of Vodka because it doesn’t have a strong flavour that would interfere or alter the taste of the final product.
- The flavouring agent
- Simple syrup (made using sugar and water in the ratios 2:1 respectively)
These are the basics.
Now the recipe for my Banana liqueur

-> 2 normal sized bananas. The picture above is of my first batch where i used sweet bananas. This product from this is ready to enjoy in two weeks. However, the normal bananas make a better quality Banana Liqueur.
-> 1 Teaspoon vanilla essence
-> 500ml Vodka
The process is quite simple. Cut up the bananas and add to a seal-able jar. Add the vodka and vanilla essence and store in a dark area for one week shaking it occasionally. After that week, strain and filter the mixture which you will then store in the dark area for one more month.
I’ve gotten excellent reviews for the liqueur. I can be drank straight up as a digestif [that’s how i like it] or in a cocktail such as a banana daiquiri.

My Orange Vodka Infusions
I was experimenting with the zest and the flesh to see which worked out better.
Recipe coming up soon…
Learn how to speak ‘beer’ Like A Boss!
Guess what i did on the first weekend of the month… I Went Beer Tasting!

I have always hated beer, but i have to say that you acquire a taste for it quite fast and soon, you will be like our friend Homer here…
With that said, you have to assume that i know ZERO about beer! To many of us and most of you, beer is beer, right?

But seriously, i could not believe how stupid i felt, and not just the stupidity induced by the alcohol.
So, when i came home and realized i had nothing useful to share about the whole experience i decided to look on the internet.
Below is the most useful thing i found. Warning: if you hate chemistry, i suggest you look away now…

It might look plain but it is seriously extensive! Now i can walk into any bar with this little cheat sheet & sound like a total pro!

Beers, Infusions & Liqueurs
Lately I’ve been experimenting with making my own infusions & liqueurs so that’s what i’ll mostly be posting about this month :D

And beer ofcourse because it’s October!!

Jer Original: Jellies & Cream
Had a lots of time to spare today so i decided to try my hand at making Vodka Jello Shots. However, i decided to make more of it so it could also be served as a dessert as opposed to just that thing you get a some random party, that you take only because it’s served by or on some hot chick…just saying…
It took some time and patience.. but look at the result!

All you need is:
-> Packet of Jello, Any flavour you like [ I used the 10 Calorie, Sugar free kind: to take some of the guilt away]
-> Whipping cream
-> 1/2 Cup Vodka
-> 1/2 Cup Sprite
-> 1 cup boiling water
-> Flavour appropriate garnish
-> Coloured Sugar [which i will show you how to make yourself next week]
The method is actually quite simple. Combine the jello powder and boiling water in a bowl and stir until fully dissolved. Separate the mixture into two equal parts. To one, add the Vodka and to the other, the sprite. Stir the two mixtures and place them into, preferably, metal containers. Put them in the fridge fridge until solid [approx. 4 hours].
Rim the shot glasses with the colored sugar.
Now all you need to do is start layering. Vodka jello -> Whipped Cream -> Sprite Jello -> Whipped cream -> Garnish.
Enjoy!
Enjoying 2 Russians at Bubbles O’leary’s Irish Pub

Was hanging out at Bubbles today with my friend Sanjana and decided to try out some cocktails. Some would say that the choices were somewhat reminiscent of our[Sanjana and I] nights at Bubbles…

We had a White Russian and Black Russian.

White Russian Black Russian
-> Vodka -> Vodka
-> Kahlua -> Kahlua
-> Milk Cream -> Coke [optional]
The White Russian tasted like a light cream liqeur like Baileys or Amarula. The Black Russian actually tasted like a Captain & Coke. I’d say the White is a daytime drink or one for a chilled out night, whereas, the black would be great for a night out but you might have to pace yourself.
The cocktails were served by this cool guy…

And to top it all off, the price was quite reasonable…

5 Rules on Buying Drinks
Some important drink buying etiquette and tips for the newly legal and all-time clueless…
5. Buying someone a drink is five times better than a handshake.

4. Buying a strange woman a drink is still cool. Buying all her drinks is dumb.

3 [for 3]. If you offer to buy a woman a drink and she refuses, she more than likely does not like you.

If you offer to buy a woman a drink and she accepts, she still might not like you.

However, If she buys you a drink, she probably likes you.

2. Screaming, “Someone buy me a drink!” has never worked.

1. If you are broke and a friend is “housing you”[as they say in Uganda], you must laugh at all his/her jokes and play wingman when he/she makes his/her move.

Two of some of my favorite things in one video: Vodka and The Lonely Island!
Rökk - “Dream” (by thelonelyisland)
It’s Vodka Month!!
This month we shall be drinking my favorite, Vodka!
For more than a few it’s..

But for me, and I’m sure I’m not alone on this one..

Vodka is really the most versatile and flexible liquor available! You can drink it straight, on the rocks, flavoured, in a cocktail, use it to kill germs, get rid of odors and countless other wonderful things!
If you won’t find anything else at Jer’s Bar, you will find Vodka!

There is something for everyone when it comes to vodka. You can get the top shelf stuff like Grey Goose, Absolut and some Smirnoff

Or you can just pimp the cheap stuff by infusing it with all sort of interesting things, all of which i will show you this month!
Either way, It’s always a good time, with Vodka on your mind!
